As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, we’re inviting you to Go All In and join us for a special evening of books, conversation and local talent at The Cornerstone with author Joanna Miller, talking about her captivating debut novel, The Eights.
Joanna will be joined by local author Liz Fenwick for an engaging Q&A, exploring the inspiration behind the book, writing, friendship and bringing this fascinating story to life.
The Eights follows the unlikely friendship of four of the first women to study at Oxford University — a powerful story of sisterhood, courage, self-determination and coming of age in a world that has changed forever.
Books will be available to purchase on the night from Alice at St Ives Bookseller.

The Eights
Oxford, 1920. For the first time in its history, the world’s most famous university has admitted female students. Giddy with dreams of equality, education and emancipation, four young women move into neighbouring rooms on Corridor Eight. They have come here from all walks of life, and they are thrown into an unlikely, life-affirming friendship.
